Along with other Yukon First Nation Chiefs and Modern Treaty First Nations and Self Government Indigenous groups, Chief Kane met with Prime Minister, the Right Honourable Justin Trudeau and several federal ministers at the Canada-Modern Treaty and Self-governing First Nations Forum in Ottawa on January 8th, 2019. Topics covered in the meeting included progress achieved and next steps, collaborative fiscal policy, proposed implementation policy, negotiations loans repayment, a proposed Modern Treaties oversight body, following a distinctions-based approach, and advancing new policies.
