TKC has been asked to provide up to 3 Facilitators for the Aboriginal Shield Program. This is a culturally sensitive substance abuse prevention program targeted specifically at Canadian Aboriginal youth through the RCMP. It is an eleven module program, initially delivered to students in grades 5 & 6. In Yukon, the first roll-out of this program will be at Elijah Smith Elementary School, starting later this winter.
The TKC Facilitators will work in conjunction with 3 facilitators from Kwanlin Dun First Nation. The initial time commitment of a Facilitator is for 2 days of training in Whitehorse in the early part of February. This will be followed by delivery of the 11 modules before end of May, with an hour budgeted for each module. An Honorarium will be provided for this role.
Interested Citizens who can provide the required security clearance are encouraged to contact Katelyn Friendship, Executive Assistant at executiveassist@taan.ca or by phone at 668-3613. A quick reply by end of day February 4th is required.
