TKC Women’s Retreat!!!

WHEN: September 25th – 27th

WHERE: Helen’s Fish Camp

WHY: Because you deserve it!!!

You will have an opportunity to take part in a variety of activities from canning all kinds of yummy vegetables and fruits to sewing to pampering yourself! There will be manicures and pedicures and You will also have time to bead and sew your own moccasins —all supplies will be provided! Food and accommodations will be provided for all participants; rides to and from camp will be available for participants who do not plan on camping overnight.
Registration packages can be picked up from the Health and Education Building. Seats are limited and will be filled on a first-come first-served basis, so Citizens are encouraged to register early!

Official Community Plan Engagement With Ta’an Kwäch’än Council

The City of Whitehorse and Ta’an Kwäch’än Council will be hosting an engagement event for Ta’an citizens to provide input on the new Official Community Plan.
Come and discuss a collective 20 year vision for Whitehorse.
Food and drinks will be provided, as well as a door prize for those in attendance.

Yukon College in partnership with RBC Foundation is pleased to offer a brand new intensive journey designed for Yukon First Nation Youth (19 – 30) to develop leadership skills to create positive change in your community. 

Youth will travel together to talk to First Nations around the Territory and discover how they became self governing, what’s working and what isn’t, and how to “be the change.”

FAMILY CAMP AT HELEN’S FISH CAMP

The TKC Family Camp will be taking place August 9 to 11 at Helen’s Fish Camp. 

Rides will be provided from the maon administration building (117 Industrial Road) at 9:00 am daily.

This year, special guest Ian Angus will join us each morning to present “The Seven Grandfather Teachings.”

Net setting and fishing

Yukon First Nations Language Proficiency Programs – 2019-2020
Do you want to learn your First Nation language?
Wishing to further advance your language fluency?
Want to be a part of creating strong language communities?

The Yukon Native Language Centre (YNLC) – Council of Yukon First Nations (CYFN) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) are excited to offer another academic year of Yukon First Nations Language Proficiency Programs. If you wish to acquire conversational and literacy skills and/or advanced oral proficiency in your language, then these are the programs for you! All courses are taught with the expertise and knowledge of language revitalization practitioners, linguists and/or fluent speakers. Tuition and student fees are provided for Yukon First Nation citizens. Register now as seats are limited and courses fill up very fast.

Renewed Community Advisory Board Looking for Members

Whitehorse – Current members of the Yukon Planning Group on Homelessness are excited to fill vacancies and expand representation on the Community Advisory Board (the CAB).  The CAB is tasked with administering federal Reaching Home funding as well as helping implement the Safe at Home Community Based Plan to End and Prevent Homelessness.  Find out more here!
