Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and Yukon Government Geothermal Research

Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, through its corporation Da Daghay Development, and the Yukon Government is involved in a geothermal heat flow study on Takhini Hot Springs Road. Temperatures will be monitored in a drilled well for up to a year to determine geothermal gradient in this location on Settlement Lands.

Yukon Environment Trapper Education Wait List Established

The February 22 to 26, 2018 Yukon Trapper Education workshop is full, but a wait list is being established. The workshop is being held at the Transportation Museum, Whitehorse. Other workshops are scheduled earlier in February in Faro. Check the Yukon Environment Hunter Education web page for more general information about the workshops. Remembrance Day 2017

Elder Gail Anderson represented Ta’an Kwäch’än Council and placed a wreath at the November 11, 2017 ceremony at the Canada Games Centre.

Deputy Chief Telep Meets Prime Minister Trudeau at Modern Treaty and Self-governing First Nations Meeting

On November 1, 2017, Deputy Chief Michelle Telep attended the meeting with Prime Minister Trudeau in Ottawa for Modern Treaty and Self-governing First Nations. Coordinated by the Land Claims Agreements Coalition, this meeting brought the Prime Minister’s Office together with representatives from Canada’s Modern Treaty and Self-governing First Nations. Three priorities were discussed: renewing the fiscal relationship, structures of government, furthering shared priorities through participation and engagement.

Ta’an Kwäch’än Council’s Hallowe’en Party

Congratulations to Ta’an Kwäch’än Council youth and TKC staff for hosting an excellent Hallowe’en party on Monday, October 30, 2017. The Gatensby/Jacobs household did very well when it came to guessing the number of candies in a jar!

River Bend in the News

Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, through its corporation Da Daghay Development, opened the first building of the River Bend housing development on Friday, October 27, 2017. The ribbon-cutting ceremony attracted well deserved media attention from CBC CKRW, Yukon News and the Whitehorse Star.
