Ta’an parents and expectant parents! Come for a free lunch at noon on the second Friday of the month at the Health and Education Building. Bring your wee ones up to age five. Eat! Chat! Share! Find out about community resources!

 

11:45 June 19, 2018, Moving Forward Together Event at City Hall

Come to City Hall just before noon on Tuesday, June 19, 2018! The City of Whitehorse will be raising two First Nations flags! Kwanlin Dün, Ta’an Kwäch’än Council, and the City of Whitehorse have been working together on a tri-governmental announcement. Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism has joined them on a project that will result in a special unveiling after the flag raising! All will be revealed to those in attendance. Successful Traditional Tool Making Workshop

Ta’an Kwäch’än Council invited Citizens to learn how to make traditional moose-hide tanning tools. Joe Migwans led the eager students from. 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., June 11 to 15, 2018 at Helen’s Fish Camp. It was an amazing opportunity as is evidenced by the work of students Roberta Behn and Shawna Tizya!

FULL! June 12 to July 26, 2018, Youth Activity Days

Sessions are now full for Tuesdays and Thursdays ages six to 12 Youth Activity Days. On these days, pre-registered youth can catch the bus at 8:45 at the Health and Education Building and go exploring until 3 pm. July 16 to 19, Culture Camp 2018!

Ages 8 to 14, Helen’s Fish Camp (may include other destinations). Cultural activities, language and games. Drop off at the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council Health and Education Building at 8:30, pick up 4:30. May 25, 2018 First Nations Graduation

First Nations Graduation at Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre was a joyful and pride-filled occasion. Congratulations to Adrianna Smith and Brandon Smith. The graduates have worked hard and will surely have bright futures! All of our best wishes to them and their families. Congratulations also go out to Betsy Jackson, who quite deservedly won the Excellence in Education Award. May 25, 2018 will be remembered as a proud day for Ta’an Kwäch’än Citizens!

June 16, Southern Tutchone Tribal Council Annual General Meeting

Ta’an Kwäch’än Council hosts the Southern Tutchone Tribal Council (STTC) AGM at Helen’s Fish Camp. Camping is welcome the night before, June 15, and supper is provided. Come and enjoy the campfire. Then join us on June 16 for breakfast, lunch and a delicious feast. Annual General Meeting in the morning. Cultural activities in the afternoon include a Father’s-Day-themed workshop with Joe Migwans and Charlie Burns, as well as a Fish Scale Art workshop with Dawna Hope. Fun activities for children and youth all day. Door prizes for STTC hoodies and an Air North gift certificate draw!
