STTC member survey
The Southern Tutchone Tribal Council has seen many changes throughout the years. Three years ago, the Board of Directors adopted a vision of pride and solidarity among Southern Tutchone peoples. We have been working toward this by bringing Southern Tutchone people together using events based on culture, language, and heritage.
Now, we are looking forward to the next three years and would like to hear about your vision for the future of the Southern Tutchone Tribal Council.
This survey is for Southern Tutchone people who were not able to participate in the engagement sessions already held in Whitehorse, Haines Junction, and Burwash Landing.
The survey closes on February 15th, 2019 and takes between 5-10 minutes to complete.
The survey can be found here: https://fs29.formsite.com/ms91Ml/sbqurrigoj/index.html
Bead, Hide and Fur Symposium
The Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association (YFNCT) is hosting a 2 1/2 day symposium and workshop for Yukon Indigenous fine craft artists that work with beads, hide, fur and other natural materials such as quills and fish scales. The Symposium will explore a variety of topics, share information and ideas, identify challenges and opportunities within their sector, and determine ways they can work together to build a vibrant and viable Indigenous craft industry for the Yukon.
Youth Tutoring Programs
Ta’an Kwäch’än Council Department of Health and Education offers an ongoing Tutoring Program available for
school-aged children. TKC, in partnership with LDAY, provides one-on-one tutoring and is funded through Yukon Government Department of Education. LDAY works to pair the student with the tutor that works best with their needs and concerns.
This service is free to our citizens, from kindergarten to grade 12 living in the Yukon. It would be great to hear from parents about any educational supports that they feel would benefit their children. Our Youth Outreach Support Worker also has Thursday drop-in office hours at Porter Creek Secondary school (Rm. 225) from 12-3pm, and a Wednesday Lunch at Elijah Smith Elementary. Please contact Ben Monkman at youthsupport@taan.ca or call 334-8306
for more information.
