Health and Wellness
- Home and Community Care
The Home Care Worker provides light house-cleaning duties for Elders or Citizens with a disability or other medical need for assistance. Spring and Fall cleaning.
Rides to appointments may also be provided with sufficient advance notice.

- Canada Games Centre Passes
Canada Games Centre passes are available October through April. Elders and Citizens with medical conditions may access passes year-round. Monthly or 10 punch passes are available upon application and citizens need to call to renew prior to the expiry of each pass.

- Traditional Sewing Classes
Traditional sewing classes in Health Boardroom every Wednesday evening 5-8pm.
- Seasonal and Cultural Community events
Events to celebrate Easter, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Christmas etc. Cultural workshops such as Drum Making, Cedar Hat Making etc. National Family Week dinners and other family events.

Support for citizens according to their specific needs on a case by case basis. Information and referrals. Assistance with Non-Insured Health Benefits concerns.

- Foot Care (new)
Professional Foot Care is available for Elders and Citizens with Diabetes. A Foot Care Nurse is on Contract with TKC and will provide foot care services in the Citizen’s home.

- Medical Emergency Fund
Financial Assistance for Medical Travel, not otherwise covered by Non-Insured Health Benefits or Yukon Health. Maximum $2,000 for travel outside Yukon, $1,000 for travel within Yukon.

Family Support
- Pre/Post Natal Program
Monthly food subsidy for pregnant women and families with children under one year of age. Information and referrals. Monthly family activities.

- Child Welfare Liaison
Family and Children’s services are legally obliged to advice TKC of any situations where TKC families come under the Yukon Child and Family Services Act. The Family Support Worker works in collaboration with Family and Children’s Services staff. The Family Support Worker is available to help families navigate the Child Welfare system and assist with support and referrals according to the family’s needs and wishes. Support for TKC families interested in becoming foster parents.

- Substance Use Concerns
Citizens who are concerned about their own or other’s substance use can be provided with information and referrals. Referrals to counselling and assistance in completing Treatment applications. Limited financial assistance available for situations where the appropriate program or service is not otherwise funded.

Support for citizens who are involved with the Justice System. Information and referrals. The Family Support Worker can accompany you to court if requested.

Income Assistance (also known as Social Assistance)
- Income Assistance/Social Assistance
Income Assistance/Social Assistance is a program funded by the Federal Government to provide a basic minimum income to citizens who meet the eligibility criteria. It is approved one month at a time. You must reapply each month, providing information about your living situation and declaring all sources of income including gifts and winnings.
