DESCRIPTION:Ta’an Kwäch’än Election 2015 \nAn election will be held Monday\, October 19\, 2015 \nfor one (1) Chief and one (1) Deputy Chief \nof the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council \n  \nWho can Vote? \nTa’an Kwäch’än citizens over the age of 16 are eligible to vote. \nYour name must appear on the Voters List\, which will be posted at the Ta’an Kwäch’än Administration Office and the Ta’an Kwach’an Elections Office \nCitizens are responsible to ensure their name appears on the Voters List. \n  \nWho can run for office? \nA candidate for Chief or Deputy Chief must: \nBe a Ta’an Kwäch’än citizen; \nBe 18 years of age or older; \nHave resided in the Yukon for a period of 6 months prior to the date of the election; \nNot have been convicted of an indictable offence or the offence of theft\, fraud or false pretenses. \n  \nA candidate for Chief must also be a direct descended of a Traditional Family or obtain and attach the family consent letter in accordance with Section 33 of the Elections Act. \n One of the requirements of running for either position is to provide proof of a clear criminal record by way of a current RCMP criminal records check. If you are thinking about running it would be best to submit your criminal record check form to the RCMP right away. \n  \nWho will oversee the election? \nThe Ta’an Kwäch’än Council appointed an Elections Committee in accordance with the laws and constitution of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. The Elections Committee consists of: Fred Koe\, Chair of the Elections Committee; Candice Menzi\, Member of the Elections Committee and Edward Duru\, Member of the Elections Committee. \nThe Chief Returning Officer was selected by the Elections Committee to be Norman Eady. SUMMARY:Public Hearings Community Lands Bill 2014-1
DESCRIPTION:In order for Ta’an Kwäch’än Council government to pass a Bill which becomes law\, the Bill must pass three readings by Council\, as well as being reviewed and approved by the Elders Council. This process allows the option for Ta’an Kwäch’än Council government to hold public hearings for its citizens on the proposed Bill. \nThe proposed Ta’an Kwäch’än Community Lands Bill 2014-1 (Bill) was given first reading by the TKC Council on February 17\, 2014. The Bill must go through two more readings and the review and approval of the Elders Council before it becomes law for Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. \nThe TKC Council appointed a special committee of citizens from the Traditional Families. On July 22\, 2014\, the Special Committee was mandated to conduct an assessment of the Community Lands Bill 2014-1 and to solicit Ta’an Kwäch’än Council citizens’ views by way of public hearings and additional public consultations as required in order to produce a report of their findings and recommendations for the Council by January 31\, 2015. \nThere have been two Public Hearings to date: November 25 and December 9\, 2014. However\, the committee was not able to review the entire Bill in the time available. \nIt is very important for you to participate in this public hearing.

DESCRIPTION:Ta’an Kwäch’än Council’s Summer Culture Camp 2015 for ages 8 – 15 will take place from August 3-7\, 2015. Our theme this year is Traditional Song and Dance and Button Blanket making. \n  \nPlease have completed registration forms in to the office by July 27\, 2015 at 4:30pm \nWe will meet morning from August 3-7\, 2015\, at the TKC office at 08:30am at 117 Industrial Road; camp attendees will be driven to Helen’s Fish Camp leaving daily from Ta’an at 9am and returning to TKC main administration office for pick up at 4:30pm \nPlease call 668-3613 before 9am should your child be unable to attend camp. \nWe will provide nutritious snacks and lunches to participants and Thursday will be the Family feast night from 5-7pm at Helens Camp all families welcome to attend; please advise Heritage Program Coordinator if your child would like to stay if parent or guardian is unable to attend; and a pick up at Ta’an main office can be arranged for 8pm. \nThere will be no swimming permitted at camp as there is no certified lifeguard with a Bronze Cross. \nCulture Camp Supply list: please ensure your child has the following  \n\nABSOLUTELY NO CELL PHONES OR OTHER ELECTRONICS\nPotlatch bags: Cup\, plate\, bowls\, utensils\nSunscreen\nHat\nWater bottle\nExtra clothing\nPlease dress appropriately for the weather\n\nSummer Culture Camp Poster 2015 \nRegistration Forms Culture Camp 2015
