DESCRIPTION:Ta’an Kwäch’än Election 2015 \nAn election will be held Monday\, October 19\, 2015 \nfor one (1) Chief and one (1) Deputy Chief \nof the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council \n  \nWho can Vote? \nTa’an Kwäch’än citizens over the age of 16 are eligible to vote. \nYour name must appear on the Voters List\, which will be posted at the Ta’an Kwäch’än Administration Office and the Ta’an Kwach’an Elections Office \nCitizens are responsible to ensure their name appears on the Voters List. \n  \nWho can run for office? \nA candidate for Chief or Deputy Chief must: \nBe a Ta’an Kwäch’än citizen; \nBe 18 years of age or older; \nHave resided in the Yukon for a period of 6 months prior to the date of the election; \nNot have been convicted of an indictable offence or the offence of theft\, fraud or false pretenses. \n  \nA candidate for Chief must also be a direct descended of a Traditional Family or obtain and attach the family consent letter in accordance with Section 33 of the Elections Act. \n One of the requirements of running for either position is to provide proof of a clear criminal record by way of a current RCMP criminal records check. If you are thinking about running it would be best to submit your criminal record check form to the RCMP right away. \n  \nWho will oversee the election? \nThe Ta’an Kwäch’än Council appointed an Elections Committee in accordance with the laws and constitution of the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. The Elections Committee consists of: Fred Koe\, Chair of the Elections Committee; Candice Menzi\, Member of the Elections Committee and Edward Duru\, Member of the Elections Committee. \nThe Chief Returning Officer was selected by the Elections Committee to be Norman Eady.
